Great half day tour option from La Fortuna
This tour turned out to be part of a larger day tour so most people on the activity continued on to La Fortuna waterfall and Arenal Volcano. Not a big deal but we weren't expecting the group to be split.

Our guide Chino was amazing and showed us a ton of wildlife including toucans, pit vipers, and various other birds and frogs. Mystico is a beautiful park and even if you don't see much wildlife the setting is fabulous.

This trip is as...
This trip is as advertised in terms of difficulty . Our hike was a bit shorter than in the description. Guide was very knowledgeable and did an amazing job of spotting wildlife. He was very good about taking photos through his scope leaving us with much better photos than we could have taken. He set a good pace, accommodating the different fitness levels. He answered all questions in a clear and helpful way. You need to do this hike with a guide: alone we’d never have seen a small bit of what he showed. The only drawback: there is a lovely cafe with amazing views of the volcano close to the parking lot and we didn’t stop. Twenty minutes for coffee there would have been great.

Lots of fun
Our guide Wilbur took us out on the water. He was very knowledgeable and pointed out lots of wildlife. We had a lot of fun. The two places we stopped at for snacks and then lunch were great.

Thoroughly enjoyable activities with a very knowledgeable guide
I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Jose was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable, giving us good information on the plants and wildlife that we saw on our hike. He also has good humour and is an excellent photographer.

The waterfall was great fun! I was determined to swim, which I did, so I felt really exhilarated afterwards. Not everyone in the group went swimming, it was personal choice. There are 500 steps down to the waterfall and then, of course, 500 steps back up! However they are in short sections and there are places to stop, sit and rest on the way.
Lunch was a delicious, traditional meal. Very big portions, which was too much for me to eat.

I definitely recommend this trip.

Such a great experience!
One of the best excursions we did while in La Fortuna. Hector was an amazing guide who had so much knowledge about not just the birds/animals but the history and culture of Costa Rica.

We checked off a lot of the things we wanted to see while on the very gentle ride (sloth, howler monkeys, iguanas, kingfishers and even a vulture).

Our 6yo son is a bit nervous about boats and had no issue at all with this, it really was a float, even in the “faster” sections.

The banana bread and fried plantains after was very good (I’m not a banana person at all but it was delicious).

Safari float and Waterfall tour
This was a wonderful experience with our guide, Wilbert. The safari float was very peaceful with beautiful scenery. Wilbert would point out wildlife and birds along the way. We saw monkeys and tuscans! We had a delicious authentic Costa Rican snack before we embarked on the hike to the La Fortuna waterfall! We walked down to 500 stairs to the beautiful powerful fall and we were able to swim and relax. We trekked back up the 500 stairs 🫠 and Wilbert took us to a wonderful restaurant where we enjoyed a delicious authentic meal. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed Wilbert's company!

A nice Fortuna excursion
It was very crowded at both the suspension bridges and the waterfall. The lunch was great, and I appreciated that they had so many options. The rainforest tour lasted a little longer than my kids would have liked (about 2 hours overall), but the guides were very knowledgeable.

Our guide was incredible!...
Our guide was incredible! She was so friendly and very knowledgeable. I think for excursions like this it’s always better to go with a guide especially if you’re solo. We learned about the volcano and got to see some incredible view points. Hike is pretty much all rocky and on a steep incline but very doable!!

Great experience
We really enjoyed this tour. We met the operator in downtown La Fortuna and rode in a comfy van from there. Our group was 10 so not too big for us all to see and hear. Will our guide was fun, friendly and knowledgeable, spotting several small frogs, snakes, lizards and tarantulas for us. We also saw great views of spider monkeys and howler monkeys. Sadly, no sloths on this trip. But Mistico was beautiful, offering amazing views of the canopy, valley and our best view of Arenal of the trip. Highly recommend.

Great experience!
We hiked up through what seemed to be jungle and mountain and saw amazing views of Arenal Volcano. Must wear hiking shoes as some of the rocks are slippery. For the waterfall, you will walk down about 250 steps, swim in the waterfall (which is cold) and walk back up. The waterfall is beautiful.
